It is 50 miles north of San Francisco, 8 miles west of Santa Rosa, 10 miles from Bodega Bay, and about 15 miles from the Russian River. The City, incorporated in 1902, currently has a population of about 7,800 people and serves a trade area population in excess of 50,000 people.Healdsburg The beauty of Healdsburg is unsurpassed &and centered in the Northern California wine country, visitors often compare the area to Tuscany. Petaluma  Petaluma is located in Sonoma County's Wine Country just 39 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Centrally located on Highway 101 and the east/west artery Highway 116, Petaluma is an ideal headquarters for exploring Sonoma County's 140 wineries, the dramatic Sonoma Coastline, Point Reyes National Seashore and California's redwoods. All only a short jaunt from Petaluma.Kenwood Kenwood is located in the heart of California's Sonoma wine country, about an hour&'s drive north of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a 15-minute drive from the historic town of Sonoma, with its plaza dating back to 1835, and just minutes away from many of the region's finest restaurants, wineries, and and state parks. Glen Ellen The beautiful rural community of Glen Ellen is located in Sonoma County in Northern California. It is an unincorporated area in the northern half of the Sonoma Valley, also known as the Valley of the Moon. The village center is on Arnold Drive just north of the Sonoma Developmental Center. The area is bounded on the north by Kenwood and Bennett Valley  and on the south by the Boyes Hot Springs-El Verano-Agua Caliente area. It extends east to the Sonoma/Napa county line and west to the Sonoma Mountain ridge top.Sonoma Historic Sonoma Plaza offers the perfect setting for many annual events during the long summer months. The 8½-acre city park, complete with duck pond, fountain, meandering pathways and lawns, is the setting for art, craft, wine and food booths on summer festival weekends. The Ox Roast is held on the first Sunday in June. Fourth of July features a traditional parade and pyrotechnic extravaganza. Salute to the Arts is the premier art event of each season, and the Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival celebrates the harvest on the last weekend in September. Music in the Plaza's open-air amphitheater is the perfect setting for summer weekends and weekday evenings. The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society, 996-7423, often sponsors live music on Farmers' Market Tuesdays. The candlelight procession to the Christmas service at Mission San Francisco Solano is yet another Sonoma holiday tradition on the Plaza not to be missed. Artisans are plentiful in Sonoma Valley and draw much of their inspiration from the colorful vineyards, landscapes and the many historic sites around the Valley. Many wineries have exhibit spaces for local artists, and Buena Vista Winery features an on-site studio with its "artist in residence" program. Sonoma Coast Escape to Sonoma Coast's only seaside wine tasting bar and gift boutique. Gourmet au Bay offers the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine while catching close-up views of Bodega Bay's colorful sea life. Rohnert Park Located in Sonoma County's southern central plain with 42,550 residents, Rohnert Park is the county's third largest city. Thoughtfully designed for families, it is one of the first planned communities in the United States. Bikeways and walkways connect its tree-lined boulevards and attractive neighborhoods. Each neighborhood is designed around a park and elementary school. The city itself is surrounded by farms and grazing land where nationally sought after organic and boutique vegetables, fruits and cheeses are grown and produced. Occidental Occidental is tucked into the redwood forests of Sonoma wine country. It's a great vacation spot and perfect location. Kissed by the scent of both the nearby vineyards and the crisp Pacific breezes, Occidental is close to all the wonderful things Western Sonoma has to offer. Occidental also is home to dozens of artists, and local stores feature their handcrafted works and all sorts of other goodies. Meander the small town center and poke your head into Hand Goods, Revival Antiques, Natural Connection, Leapin' Lizards Fun Store, and the many other terrific shops. The town prides itself as a great place to hear music. Our Redwood Arts Council presents concerts of local artists and world-renowned musical performers featuring chamber music, international folk music, jazz, vocal ensembles, and more. Forestville Forestville is located in the coastal section of Northern California in the heart of Sonoma County. A quiet little community half an hour from the Pacific coast and about an hour north of San Francisco, Forestville retains a low-key family oriented atmosphere. Cotati has long been considered the "Hub" of Sonoma County by virtue of its central location and its historic hexagonal plaza. Cotati has been an integral link in Sonoma County for generations and continues that trend today. Guerneville Attracted 140 years ago by the world's premier redwood groves, first loggers and then travelers came to see the ancient forests and then called Big Bottom and what began as loggers' cabins and vacation homes gradually turned into small communities of foresters, farmers and merchants. In the 1920s the lower Russian River area had available 15,000 guest beds, and while many of the attractive and unique cabins and historic cottages have become year-round homes, it is still a favorite getaway for retreats and vacations. Small eclectic hamlets and towns nestled amongst the ranches and farms add to the culture and diversity of the area. Each with its own history and stories to tell, they include: OCCIDENTAL, well known for its restaurants and scenic vistas RIO NIDO, where hundreds flocked to the dance halls to be entertained by Ozzie Nelson, Benny Goodman, and Jimmy Dorsey Brothers the small town of DUNCAN MILLS with its fine gift stores and restaurants, began as a lumber mill and now presents a restored and recreated rural village MONTE RIO, home to the summer encampment at famous Bohemian Grove, ninety years ago boasted picture shows, dance halls and water sports along with a 7-story hotel GUERNEVILLE, once the hub of the redwood timber mills, then the largest of the lower Russian River resort communities, still offers great vacation opportunities in a town known for its social and cultural diversity FORESTVILLE, a small town which in 1836 was home to California's first power sawmill, and is now a peaceful haven bordered by orchards, farms and vineyards. The Russian River area inspires a diverse lifestyle where one can savor the delights of country living yet be in proximity to larger cites commerce.
